Important Safety Information: Risk of Thyroid C-Cell Tumors

In animal studies, Semaglutide has been shown to cause thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer, in mice and rats. It is currently unknown whether Semaglutide poses the same risk in humans. If you notice symptoms such as a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or shortness of breath, inform your healthcare provider immediately, as these may be signs of thyroid cancer.

Do Not Use Semaglutide If:

– You or your family have a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). – You or your family have been diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Use of Semaglutide:

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that can be used  for chronic weight management in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for adults with:

– A body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or greater (obesity), or

– A BMI of 27 kg/m² or greater (overweight) with at least one weight-related comorbid condition, such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia.

Limitations of Use:

– Do not use Semaglutide in combination with other Semaglutide-containing products or GLP-1 receptor agonists.

– The safety and efficacy of coadministration with other weight loss products have not been established.

– Semaglutide has not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis.

Who Should Not Use Semaglutide:

– Individuals with a history or family history of MTC or MEN 2.

– Those with a known allergy to Semaglutide.

Administration Guidelines:

Semaglutide is administered once a week per your provider, which can be injected into the stomach, thigh, with or without food. It’s crucial to follow your healthcare provider’s instructions regarding dosage adjustments and not alter or stop your treatment without consultation.

Before Starting Semaglutide:

Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you’re taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, as there may be drug interactions.

Particularly, watch out for:

– DO NOT use Semaglutide with insulin or sulfonylureas.

– Other GLP-1 medications.

– Products used for weight loss, including dietary supplements.

Special Considerations:

Pregnancy: Do not use Semaglutide during pregnancy. If you are planning to become pregnant, discontinue use at least two months before. There may be risks to the unborn baby based on animal studies.

Breastfeeding: Semaglutide has been detected in the milk of lactating rats. Consult your Excel Medical Medical Provider before use.
